If you’re like us, we love going outdoors and enjoying the beautiful California weather! We put together a list of the best Off-Road trails to hit when either Dirt-Biking or for your 4×4 toys.
Prairie City State Park

Address: 13300 White Rock Rd, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742
Phone: 916-985-7378
If you have been in Sacramento for a while and been into Off-Roading then you definitely know about prairie city. Located about 20 miles west of Sacramento, this park has been a staple for our community with OHV vehicles and go-karts!
Hangtown is the motocross section of this park. They hold a professional race here each year and draws a great crowd and great times! Be sure to check out their website for when the next pro event is taking place.
The Park is currently partially open. The kids track, main staging area, ATV and MX practice tracks, obstacle area,4×4 Track and Staging area, Zones 1,2, and 3 riding trails, the kart track for practice/training sessions, and quarter midget track for practice/training sessions. Be sure to check their website for all current updates on what is open or closed.
What we like the most is the options available. The State has done a good job with creating a variety of trails and tracks for all skill-levels! Personally it seems they are marketing more towards 4×4 vehicles as they are building a nice new rock crawling trail that will be built in 2-phases. More on that when it gets completed.
Mammoth Bar
Google: 4.1 stars (52 reviews)
Address: Old Foresthill Rd, Auburn, CA 95603

Mammoth Bar is another great local spot for some dirtbike or ATV-ing. Another state-ran park. Most would say this is a beginners spot. The trails from recent off-roads say that this is still a beginners place, it has been a while since we last enjoyed the trails but when we were here they were pretty easy to navigate. Still very scenic and enjoyable with the mountain range.
The Motocross track has recently been relocated and still great for showing people how/learning to ride. The area is a popular spot and people come to enjoy the river especially during the summer to cool off! Give this park a try and let us know how it is!
Sugar Pine/ Foresthill OHV trail
Google: 4.6 stars (55 reviews)
Address: Sugar Pine Rd, Foresthill, CA 95631
Phone: 530-265-4531
I’ll tell you what, our national forest OHV trails have some of the best views in the area! ForestHill is one of those, with a large parking lot to park trailers, bathrooms, camping areas (check with the website to see if camping is permitted), and many trails to ride. It’s a reason why this place tends to get crowded during the spring and summer months!
The only downside to Sugar Pine/ Foresthill is that no 4×4 vehicles can use the trails unless they are under 50’’ wide. With about 100-miles of trails and a variety of trails, this one of the Best places to take the family or just explore by yourself and truly rip through the mountain ranges!
If you’re looking for some Winter Snowmobiling about 15-miles up the road at China wall has that for you. Check out our snow sport post here for other snow areas we picked!
