Apple Mountain Golf Resort | http://www.applemountaingolfresort.com/
Google: 4.6 stars (378 reviews)
This golf course ranks as one of the most scenic courses in the greater Sacramento area! This 18- hole golf course is nested near the El Dorado National forest, it feels and plays like it is in the heart of the forest! A challenging, yet exciting course to play, make sure to bring some extra balls.
Throughout the 18-holes the course you’ll definitely notice the elevation change on this course, just like the mountain terrain. The Greens are known to be challenging so make sure to get some putting practice when you arrive. Most say this course can played in about 4-5 hours. The Length of the course is 6,450 yards. Rating of 70.6
My favorite holes are #3 and #18. Hole #3 is par 3 that goes downhill to the green. I club down, as the greens are tricky for me and I’m not very good at golf LOL… Love this hole for it looks easy and for some it is, but I just love using a short iron and putting my way to the finish! I love hole #18 because you look down the hill and it seems like i can hit the ball 350 yards (which i cannot), this hole just does a great job of finishing off the game with a big driver and iron club up the hill to hit the greens. Just plain out fun for me!
They offer multiple tee locations to give players of all skill levels a chance to enjoy this great course!
The Ridge Golf Course | https://www.ridgegc.com/
Google: 4.5 stars (354 reviews)
At the Ridge, one of the first things you’ll notice here is the oak trees and hills with a tons of scenic views! There is a 100- foot elevation change on the course and trust us everyone says you’ll love it!
I personally have yet to play The Ridge, but it is on my list to play. Honestly I don’t feel ready to play this course and as I am typing this, I realize that I am using that as an excuse! Don’t be like me… get out there are improve and gain the experience of this course! My friends and people I talk Golf about say this is a championship level course but has 4 sets of tee boxes to choose from. The greens, they tell me, are fast so make sure to get some putting practice and chipping at their practice greens!
I will update on my experience here once i play in the spring of 2022. Rating 71. Length 6734 yards.
This course was designed by one the most famous golf course architects in the world, Robert Trent Jones, Jr! Doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned golfer or a beginner, you can definitely enjoy this course! With four sets of tee boxes, all the challenges that you want to embark on can be made! Make sure to make reservations as they do get a lot of traffic!
Timber Creek & Sierra Pines | https://www.timbercreekgc.com/
Google: 4.4 stars ( 64 reviews)
Timber Creek is located in Roseville, CA and has, like the others, a very scenic course. Timber Creek provides beginners and seasoned golfers alike a chance to play together with their gorgeous fairways and strategically placed greens. This 18 hole course with three tees to pick from easy, medium, and hard.
I have yet to play the 9-hole course at Sierra pines so update will come in the spring of 2022!
My biggest memories when playing here at Timbercreek and ill be honest is hitting a house. Luckily I did not cause any damage and was able to say sorry to the owners. After that unfortunate slice, it did affect my confidence through the rest of the game. If houses around the course makes you nervous I would say practice or play different course. My favorite hole is #6. A par 3 on an island and water pretty much all around the greens makes it so much fun and rewarding when I get on the greens or frustrated when I lose some pro-v1…lol
Everyone loves this course for it is challenging but not over the top. I will be coming out here again in spring of 2022 and give an update on well I can play this course after my unfortunate house hitting experience!
Haggin Oaks Golf Complex | https://www.hagginoaks.com/
Google: 4.5 stars (845 reviews)
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Haggin Oaks Golf complex. This Complex offers up to golfers everything! They have a driving range with automated tees with over a 100 stalls, a world class teaching facility with over 15 golf professionals to help get your game up, a Golf Super shop that is the largest on-course shop in the country, and a sport’s bar & grill to enjoy a meal and drink either after or before the round ( or two) of golf! For more information on Haggin oaks driving range and other local driving ranges please check out our other post here.
There are 2 championship level golf courses here and offer 3 sets of tees for all levels of players to choose from. Alister Mackenzie is the player’s course of choice. The Augusta National course architect Alister Mackenzie designed the course at Haggin Oaks, hints the name! This course always gives me challenges, I just don’t have very much luck and skill…LOL. My favorite hole is #17. A par 5 that every time I play it I choose a different strategy to get to the greens!
The second course they offer is the Arcade Creek Golf course. This course offers the best learning environment for players at all levels. Here players get the option to choose 9-holes or 18-holes. I love this course as it provides me challenges but also victories! My favorite hole is the locally famous #18, where right out of the box you have to hit over a creek bed and into the fairway than over another creek onto the greens! Such a great hole to finish off the round!
If any course you really enjoy are not on this list and you feel like they should, please reach out to us and we will go out play the course, write about and post it!
